Your eyes are about to have deliscious breakfast, feasting on design and marketing work I have crafted . I’m Sam, the creative behind Sam K Ryan Studio.

Previously, I founded and ran an online fashion brand, translating hand-drawn textile illustrations into sleepwear and accessories. From concept to execution, I led every stage of the creative process. From textile design, creative direction, image editing, graphic design, and illustrated props, I brought this brand and its campaigns to life.

SAM K RYAN: THE SLEEPWEAR BRAND

Truth? I slept on the job.

Not really. But I did dream a lot about becoming a designer and media maker.

As a frilly-sock-wearing child in country Victoria, I was forever telling stories through pictures. Long before home internet existed (the true stone age, depending on who you ask). My world was built from pencil lines and colour, hours spent sketching characters and dreaming up tiny, imaginative universes of my own.

That early fascination never really left. It grew, stretching into a lifelong love of design, media, and visual storytelling in all its forms. I dreamed of designing garments for film or the runway, or stepping behind the lens as a filmmaker. In many ways, I followed those threads, carving out a path as a fashion retailer and designer, and later working across marketing and creative for Melbourne-based brands.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER AND MEDIA MAKER

I’m a creative and digital media all-rounder with nine years’ experience producing scroll-stopping, story-driven work for Australian and international brands. My sweet spots? Digital marketing, video content creation, graphic design, and illustration.

Running my own online sleepwear and accessories brand gave me a front-row seat to entrepreneurship. It taught me how to juggle big ideas, tight timelines, and real-world results (with caffeine and creativity in equal measure). I’ve recently completed a Master’s in Media, levelling up my skills in writing, production, and strategic communication. Most especially when it comes to video and visual storytelling.
